Christian Romance Authors List

  • Ginny Aiken – published by Tyndale and Revell writes romance and mystery.  Her homepage.
  • Isabella MacDonald Alden – (1841-1930) used pseudonym Pansy.
  • Hannah Alexander – The pen name for collaborative works by Cheryl and Mel Hodde.
  • Lynn Austin – has won three Christy awards.  She has written many great books including a Biblical Fiction series, Chronicles of the Kings.
  • Judy Baer – recently wrote The Baby Chronicles.
  • Karen Ball – an editor and author for over 25 years.  Her latest book is What Lies Within.
  • Tracey V. Bateman – has served as the president of American Christian Fiction Writers as well as writing many books including the Westward Hearts series.
  • Terri Blackstock – a Christian romance novelist and mystery/suspense writer.  Check out her Wikipedia page.
  • Lawana Blackwell – has told several stories in the Victorian era through her novels.
  • Stephen Bly – has authored several Western type books.
  • Muriel Canfield – wrote Broken and Battered.
  • Melody Carlson – wrote These Boots Weren’t Made for Walking, On This Day and others.
  • Karen Cogan – has written children’s books as well as inspirational fiction, both historical and contemporary.
  • Lori Copeland – began writing secular novels in 1982, but in 1995 decided to write for the Christian romance novel market.  She also has a page a Geocities.
  • Lyn Cote – Her latest book is a historical romance entitled Her Captain’s Heart. She lives in Wisconsin with her husband and three cats.  Visit her homepage and post on her blog!
  • Brenda Coulter – has written Finding Hope, A Family Forever, A Season of Forgiveness, and her latest At His Command.
  • K. M. Daughters – is the pen name for the writing team of Pat Casiello and Kathie Clare, who have written Jewel of the Adriatic and are working on The Sullivan Boys series.
  • Wendy Davy – has written Drake’s Retreat and A Matter of Trust.
  • Sharon Donovan – has written Touched by an Angel.
  • Doris Elaine Fell – Wrote a 6 book series called Seasons of Intrigue.
  • Shawn Grady – wrote Through the Fire, which we have reviewed here.
  • Andrew M. Greeley – an influential Catholic writer who has written many different kinds of books, including Christian romance; he also has a page at Wikipedia.
  • Robin Jones Gunn – writes stories for the young and old alike, wrote The Christy Miller Series; also has a page at Wikipedia.
  • Cathy Marie Hake – is a Christian romance writer with a delightful sense of humor.
  • Robin Lee Hatcher – has authored over 50 novels, including Catching Katie.
  • Dee Henderson – one of the Christian romance authors that needs no introduction, wrote the O’Malley Family and Uncommon Heroes series.
  • Barbara Jean Hicks – has written some children’s stories, but also several “grown-up” Christian romance novels.
  • Liz Curtis Higgs – wrote Bad Girls of the Bible as well as some Christian romance novels.
  • Ruth Livingston Hill – (1898-2001) her real name is Ruth H. Munce and she has a wikipedia page
  • Kristen Johnson Ingram – wrote Angel in the Senate
  • Sally John – wrote The Other Way Home series.
  • Grace Johnson – wrote Tempest at Stonehaven
  • Karen Kingsbury – another author that needs no introduction, she’s been called the Queen of Christian fiction, her accolades are too numerous to list; there’s even a movie in the works starring Christian Slater based on Gideon’s Gift, there is loads more information about her at Wikipedia.
  • Bonnie Leon – author of the Sydney Cove series now in progress (book 2 is out, book 3 coming spring 09), she also has a blog here
  • Beverly Lewis – Beverly has penned numerous books, won numerous awards and even had a movie produced based on her book The Redemption of Sarah Cain, lots more information at Wikipedia
  • Shari Macdonald – is now Shari Macdonald Strong, she now writes in genres other than Christian Romance, but you can find several Christian romance books written by her
  • Sharon McAnear – author of The Jemma Series.
  • Kathleen Morgan – has written many romance novels, in the secular market before she started concentrating on the inspirational market.
  • Gilbert L. Morris – a Christy award-winner who has written many series including the House of Winslow series which encompasses 40 books!
  • Janette Oke – one of the pioneers of inspirational fiction, her first book was Love Comes Softly, wrote several other novels and series, has several movies based on her books, and has won numerous awards
  • Jane Orcutt – (1960-2007) Jane’s last novel, released shortly after her death is All the Tea in China
  • Robin Parrish – wrote Offworld, which we have reviewed here.
  • Catherine Palmer – has authored several novels including It Happens Every Spring
  • Carol Lynn Pearson – has written several play, poems, and non-fiction in addition to inspirational fiction.  She also has a page at Wikipedia.
  • Judith Pella – has written several series including The Russians and a few standalone novels
  • A. Pisaturo – writes children’s books as well as Christian romances, including Treasures in Clay Vessels.
  • Francine Rivers – has a long list of popular Christian romance novels including, Redeeming Love; The Last Sin Eater was made into a feature film.  There is lots of information on here at Wikipedia.
  • Lisa Samson – wrote the Hollywood Nobody series and Embrace Me
  • Kim Vogel Sawyer – is a renowned Christian Romance Author who won the American Christian Romance Writer’s Book of the year award in 2008 for Where Willows Grow.
  • June Scott – is a fairly new author who has written one series and one standalone novel.
  • Debra White Smith – a speaker as well as a novelist, Debra has written several books on marriage as well as the Christian romance series Debutante
  • Lauraine Snelling – loves the art of stories and has authored adult as well as youth Christian romance novels including the Red River of the North series
  • Peggy Stoks – was a nurse before becoming an inspirational fiction author.
  • Linda Strawn – currently has one work of fiction published title Singing Winds, which follows the life of Katy Breyer from the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, to a city, to her uncle’s home and beyond.
  • Pamela S Thibodeaux – her works are described as “Inspirational with an edge.”  She also has a blog.
  • Jane Watson – was inspired by Jerry Jenkins to write her first novel.
  • Shannon Nicole Wells – Shannon is a new author from Charleston, WV.  Her book is Wild Heart.
  • Lori Wick – writes both historical and contemporary Christian romance novels, many of which have come in the form of series, including the Big Sky Dreams series
  • Susan DeVore Williams – wrote Sunset Coast, which seems to be her only Christian romance book, but worth reading
  • Linda Windsor – wrote several novels and series including Fires of Gleannmara and Moonstruck
  • Lisa Wingatehas been writing all of here life, even before starting school.  Author of the Tending Roses series.

    In checking out your authors list, I cannot believe that my two favorite Christian romance writers are not included: Francine Rivers and Lynn Austin.

    The list is a work in progress. We would like to have a website link for each author. This takes time. As far as I know, Francine Rivers still writes!

    I have a much larger list, one of romance/ historicals and another of mystery. It’s a work I put together for myself and keep updated as much as possible. You also have some I don’t have. Not sure how I’d get my lists to you.

    I really appreciate this list. I was just telling my husband that I didn’t know what I was going to do because I think I have read most of the christian romance novels that our library has to offer (at least from the authors that I know of). However, the list includes quite a few authors that I was unaware of. I can’t wait to explore some new authors!
